Amarnath Yatra Commences with 'Pratham Puja' Amidst Tightened Security Measures

Jammu and Kashmir witnessed the auspicious beginning of this year's Amarnath Yatra with the traditional 'Pratham Puja' on Saturday. The ceremony, dedicated to Baba Amarnath, saw Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha participating virtually from Raj Bhawan in Srinagar.

Expressing his commitment to the sacred journey, Governor Manoj Sinha assured devotees of comprehensive arrangements for their visit to Amarnath starting June 29. "From June 29th, devotees across the country can have darshan of 'Baba Amarnath'...all necessary facilities have been arranged for the devotees," said LG Manoj Sinha, highlighting the extensive security measures put in place.

Prior to the official commencement, security measures have been intensified along the pilgrimage route and at the Amarnath shrine. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of Jammu, Anand Jain, affirmed that police have meticulously reviewed security arrangements to ensure a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage. "We are closely monitoring cut-off timings to facilitate smooth movement of pilgrims," added ADGP Anand Jain during a briefing with police officials.

The Amarnath Yatra, set to begin on June 29 and conclude on August 19, attracts millions of Hindu devotees annually. It involves a challenging trek to the Amarnath cave shrine, where devotees pay homage to Lord Shiva.

In preparation for the pilgrimage, Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized the provision of essential facilities, including medical aid, to ensure the well-being of pilgrims throughout their journey.
