Kolkata: Nobel laureate Amartya Sen came in support of veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah. He said here on Sunday that the present situation in the nation must change. Sen,  who is a well-known economist also said that many universities in the nation are suffering, their liberty and autonomy is at stake and other institutions are also not at ease. According to Sen, Naseeruddin Shah's statement on India's widespread intolerance, the veteran economist stated that he is being harassed in many ways and we will robustly protest in opposition to it.

He also asked about the intolerant reactions.Worth mention here The noted actor Naseeruddin Shah was "angry" about the rise of mob violence. He had said that poison  has spread in the Indian society where at some places, the death of a cow is given more meaning than of a police officer. He in his worried and fury statements gave an indirect reference to the recent Bulandshahr violence where a police officer was killed allegedly by cow vigilantes.

Looking forward to the general election, Sen said: "Even the journalists are losing freedom which is not acceptable. The election is approaching, let's see what happens".
