India's Nobel-Laureate in Economics Amartya Sen finished his nine-years-in length relationship with the Nalanda University, first as a Chancellor and later as an individual from the overseeing board. Post his abdication as Chancellor in February 2015 , Sen had reprimanded PM Narendra Modi and has openly lashed out at the BJP-drove NDA government since his renunciation. By and by, his affiliation proceeded as an individual from the overseeing board, as he has been a part of the Nalanda Mentors Group (NMG) since 2007, which was going by the then PM Manmohan Singh with the resurgence of the Nalanda University.

Other than Amartya Sen, previous Harvard educator and current Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sugata Bose and UK-based financial analyst Lord Meghnad Desai have not been incorporated into the recently constituted board. They were all part of the Nalanda Mentors Group (NMG), which was releasing the elements of the representing board.

Sources said the representing board has been constituted, with prompt impact, with the accompanying administration board: Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, five individuals from among the part states (India, China, Australia, Laos, and Thailand) which give most extreme money related help amid a time of three years.

Previous civil servant N K Singh, who is presently a BJP part, has been designated as India's illustrative.
