New Delhi: Only three times in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), a bowler has clean bowled four batsmen in the same match. In IPL 2022, this feat was seen again in the match played between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 27 April, before that it happened in IPL 2012. Umran Malik took five wickets against Gujarat Titans, out of which he clean bowled four batsmen and showed the way to the pavilion. Thus, Umran has joined the elite club of yorker kings Lasith Malinga and Siddharth Trivedi.
Let us tell you that for the first time in IPL, Lasith Malinga did this feat against Delhi Capitals (at that time Delhi Daredevils) while playing for Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2011. After this, the very next year, Rajasthan Royals (RR) fast bowler Siddharth Trivedi added his name to this list by cleaning four batsmen of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). And now Umran Malik, GT's Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha, David Miller and Abhinav Manohar have been clean bowled to join the elite club.
Apart from this, Umran Malik also made captain Hardik Pandya his victim, but he was not clean bowled. Umran took five wickets for 25 runs in four overs. This is the first time in IPL 2022 that the player of the losing team has received the Man of the Match award. Hyderabad may have lost by 5 wickets in this match, but its bowler Umran was awarded the Man of the Match award.
