Hyderabad: Online commerce giant Amazon has launched its largest campus in the world in Hyderabad, the capital of India's southern state of Telangana. The company said it is the only campus owned by Amazon outside the U.S. It will employ 15,000 employees. The number of Amazon employees in India has reached 62,000. A report said, according to the total area, it is the largest building in the world at one place in Amazon.

It has an 18 lakh sq ft office space and is built in an area of 30 lakh sq ft. Amazon laid the foundation stone of the campus on March 30, 2016. According to the company's Vice President John Shutler, Hyderabad has 8 buildings in 40 lakh square feet of office space. Some of the employees are being shifted to the new campus, so far about 4,500 employees have been shifted.

The company has 62 thousand full-time employees in India. Talking to reporters, Amazon India Senior Vice President and Country Manager Amit Agarwal said that Hyderabad's new campus is also the largest technology base after Amazon's Seattle (US) headquarters.

There are software development engineers, machine learning scientists, product managers, finance and many other employees. He said Amazon has more than 60,000 employees in the country. One-third of the employees are kept in Hyderabad. Amazon is known as the world's largest e-commerce company.
