Amazon incline on Govt. to set up food e-retail venture in India

Amazon has appealed government to invest $500 million for completely owned venture in India and also allow to produced own food items and sell it through e-commerce site online. 

Amazon currently operates e-commerce marketplace and India allow 100 per cent overseas capital in such platforms, these entities cannot sell products themselves.

"We are excited by the government's continued efforts to encourage FDI in India for a stronger food supply chain," as per the sources news, an Amazon spokesperson said. "We have sought an approval to invest and partner with  the government in achieving this vision." 

Amazon currently operates an online platform on which Indian-owned entities can sell products.  Flipkart, the country's largest e-commerce company and Snapdeal also operate such platforms.
