Chandigarh: Ambala MP and Bharatiya Janata Party leader , Rattan Lal Kataria passed away this morning following prolong illness.

The 3 times veteran parliamentarian was admitted to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research,  Chandigarh. He had been under critical condition for the past few days.
Former Tripura Chief Minister and BJP in-charge for Haryana Biplab Kumar Deb arrived at Chandigarh PGI earlier on Wednesday evening to check on the 72-year-old and wish him a speedy recovery.

The former Tripura chief minister condoled the passing on Twitter, writing, "The passing of former Union minister of state and Ambala MP Mr. Rattan lal Kataria is very sad. At PGI Chandigarh, where I visited Kataria ji only last night, his resolve was unwavering even as she neared death. My sincere condolences go out to his family during this difficult time. May God grant Kataria ji's pure soul rest and the mourning family members courage to endure this loss.
The last rites will be performed Thursday at 12 noon at the cremation ground in Manimajra, Chandigarh.

Rattan Lal Kataria is an Indian politician and Member of Parliament (MP) from Ambala constituency in the state of Haryana. He has had a notable political career, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in various capacities.

Kataria was born on February 9, 1962, in Haryana. He completed his education with a Master's degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Law (LLB). He started his political journey in the late 1980s and became associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a right-wing Hindu nationalist organization. His involvement with the RSS provided him with a strong ideological foundation.

In 1996, Kataria joined the BJP and began working actively for the party. He held various positions within the party's organizational structure, including serving as the Vice-President of the Haryana BJP. His dedication and hard work earned him recognition within the party, leading to his selection as a candidate for the Ambala Lok Sabha constituency.

In the 2009 general elections, Kataria contested from Ambala and emerged victorious, securing the MP seat. He was re-elected in the 2014 and 2019 general elections, further consolidating his political position. As an MP, he has actively participated in parliamentary debates and discussions, raising issues related to his constituency and contributing to policy formulation.

During his tenure, Kataria has focused on various developmental projects for Ambala constituency. He has been involved in initiatives related to infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and welfare programs for the marginalized sections of society. He has also been vocal about issues concerning farmers and has advocated for their rights and welfare.
