Nellore: District Collector K V N Chakradhar Babu appreciated the efforts of Red Cross for providing excellent services during the pandemic. During the formal inauguration of an ambulance with modern cardiac life support, 20 bypass ventilators and oxygen concentrator facilities at the Indian Red Cross building here on Friday, the Collector said the Red Cross had provided vaccination to around 18 lakh people in the district. Will complete the target of 5 lakh more in a week. He said that it received much appreciation from across the country for collecting large quantity of plasma from COVID recovered patients inspiring other branches in the country.

IRCS District President P Chandrashekhar Reddy said that he was always inspired by the Collector who has been a guide in all the activities and added that he has provided food and other essentials to the migrant laborers and arranged for 6 rehabilitation centres. He also said that he had planned a mobile crematorium when the kin and relatives of the deceased Kovid failed to come forward for the last rites. He has performed the last rites of 395 people so far under social responsibility.

He said Airbus handed over an ambulance worth Rs 52 lakh with excellent life-saving equipment and the Singapore Red Cross has given advanced ventilators worth Rs 2.15 crore to meet the future demand. He said that these ventilators can also be used at home if a child is affected during the third wave. The Collector handed over appreciation letters to the volunteers who did excellent work in the service. Red Cross Vice President D Sudhir Naidu, State Executive Member Ravi Prakash, Treasurer Suresh Kumar Jain and others were present.
