US airstrikes kills 10 Islamic State militants in Iraq

BAGHDAD: At least 10 Islamic State (IS) militants have been killed in a U.S.-led coalition airstrike in Iraq's northern province of Nineveh. Iraqi forces have confirmed this. According to the news agency Xinhua, the Joint Operation Command said in a brief statement that action was taken based on the intelligence report.

The statement said coalition warplanes, based on intelligence reports, attacked IS bases in the desert in al-Baz area near the Syrian border on Friday. According to the statement, 10 IS militants were killed in the airstrikes and their hideouts and vehicles were destroyed. Things have improved dramatically after Iraqi security forces completely defeated IS militants across the country at the end of 2017.
