Washington: Even though the conflict between Russia and America is at its peak, there does not seem to be any impact on India's relations with both countries. Now America has made it clear that we have no problem with India buying oil from Russia. We are not thinking of imposing any restrictions. An official of the US State Department has issued a statement in this regard.
According to the report, Karen Donfried, Assistant Secretary in the Department of European and Eurasian Affairs in the US State Department, has said in her statement that we have no intention to ban India on the issue of buying oil from Russia. She said that relations with India are very important. The policies of India and America may be different, but both of us are committed to following international rules. She further said that we respect the sovereignty of all countries. Meanwhile, Geoffrey Pyatt, Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Resources, said that America has no problem with India's move, but we want continuous talks on this issue.
Senior US diplomats have also supported India's move to buy oil from Russia. They say that Russia has cut the prices of crude oil. In such a situation, India has an opportunity to buy oil at good prices. Let us tell you that Russia, embroiled in a war with Ukraine, has reduced oil prices to increase its revenue. For the past few months, India has been buying cheap crude oil from Russia and converting it into fuel for America and Europe. This is because oil refined in India is not considered Russian oil and European countries have no objection in buying it. Last month, India alone sent 89,000 barrels of petrol and diesel per day to New York.
