Houston: A 43-year-old paediatrician of cancer-prone Indian origin has shot and killed a woman doctor after taking some people hostage at a medical office in Austin, Texas state capital of the United States. He also shot himself and committed suicide. Police have said that the armed person has been identified as Dr Bharata Narumanchi who was suffering from cancer.
According to a media report, the Austin Police Department has issued a press release stating that police received information via a call Tuesday that a man had entered the Children's Medical Group (CMG) office with a weapon and he has taken some people hostage. Police has said that many people were initially held hostage, but many people were successful in getting out of the clutches.
He has stated that the attacker had allowed one to go except for a paediatrician named Catherine Dodson. Police said that the people who had managed to escape from the clutches of the attacker had told the officials on the spot that the person had a pistol which looked like a shotgun. Police has not received any information about any kind of relationship between Dr Narumanchi and Dr Dodson.
