U.S: American Airlines Authorities said, a passenger assaulted a flight attendant on an American Airlines flight from New York to California, which was diverted to Denver. Flight 976 was on its way from John F. Kennedy International Airport to John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana on Wednesday when it landed safely at Denver International Airport. According to the airline, the passenger was removed and the flight continued to California. The flight attendant was reportedly taken to a hospital, but there were no immediate details on her condition.

"The reports of what happened onboard have outraged us. American Airlines, based in Fort Worth, Texas, said in a statement that "acts of violence against our team members will not be tolerated." The passenger will be barred from flying with American Airlines, but "we will not be satisfied until he has been prosecuted to the full extent of the law," according to the airline. This is unacceptable behaviour." This year has seen an increase in unruly airline passengers, who have been known to become violent.

The assault was under investigation by law enforcement, and the Federal Aviation Administration said it would look into it as well.
