Jessica Chastain was excited to collaborate with filmmaker David O. Russell on his 2014 movie 'American Hustle,' but she was unable to do so due to a schedule conflict, and the part was finally given to Jennifer Lawrence.

"'Oh, so-and-such is going to do this,' there are so many times. Then they were ejected. Or I was planning to do something, but got distracted, then this person steps in "On Josh Horowitz's 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast, Chastain remarked. "It occurs all the time, but we never talk about it because you don't want stories like, "Imagine this guy doing it." on the internet. I'll hand it on to you. David O. Russell is one of my favorite authors. I adore him and have always wanted to collaborate with him. And I was offered the Jennifer Lawrence role in 'American Hustle.'"

"It was something I really wanted to do. It clashed with Liv Ullmann's role in 'Miss Julie.' I'd been enamoured with it for a long time, and I adore Liv Ullmann. So I had to say something along the lines of, 'Sorry, there's a disagreement.' And that didn't turn out to be a good idea."

"And it's wonderful the movie didn't do well," Chastain joked. According to femalefirst.co.uk, the actress went on to work with Liv again on her most recent project, 'Scenes From a Marriage,' so she believes everything worked out for the best. She did a fantastic job playing Rosalyn Rosenfeld, the wife of Christian Bale's conman character Irving Rosenfeld, in 'American Hustle.'

She said, " "That's why I'm telling you that tale because she's a goddess to me and I revere her. Everything occurs for a reason, since Jennifer was also far superior to me in that scene."
