Moscow: Because of the conflict in Ukraine and the possibility of being arbitrarily detained or harassed by Russian law enforcement, the United States has advised its citizens to leave Russia as soon as possible.

The US embassy in Moscow advised citizens to leave Russia immediately if they were residents or travelers. Due to the possibility of unjustified detentions, "exercise increased caution." Do not visit Russia, advised the embassy.

American citizens have received numerous warnings to leave Russia. President Vladimir Putin issued the most recent such public warning in September following a partial mobilization.
