Amid tension with India, Pakistan suspends Samjhauta Express

Islamabad: Considering the increased tension between Indian and Pakistan after Indian Airforce’s Air strike in Pakistan, Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced that India has no plans to suspend the train that runs between Pakistan's Lahore and India's Atari, Pakistan on Thursday.

The announcement by Islamabad comes as another snub to New Delhi after India conducted a 'non-military pre-emptive' strike in Balakot of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region.  Railway Minister said, "We have not yet received any instructions from authorities so far as running of Samjhauta Express. So it will run as planned as per the schedule.”

The Samjhauta Express or the peace train is a bi-weekly train that runs on Wednesdays and Sundays between Delhi and Atari in India and Lahore in Pakistan. The train departs from Old Delhi Railway station at 11.10 pm on two days within a week.

The teansion between the two countries have been increased after Indian Air force bombed terrorist camp in Pakistan. The attack of the IAF came after the Pulwama terror attack in which more than 40 CRPF Jawans were killed.

A after Air stike, Pakistani Air force violeted the cease fire and entered in India. However, Indian Air force responded immediantly and pushed them back.
