New Delhi: Congress Working President Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday held a phone call with RJD National President and former CM Lalu Prasad Yadav. Sonia Gandhi held a phone call with RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav after a meeting of party general secretaries, state in-charge and state Congress committee presidents in Delhi yesterday.

RJD National President and former CM Lalu Prasad Yadav said he has spoken to Sonia Gandhi and asked her to unite all like-minded parties. Lalu Yadav said, "I spoke to Sonia Gandhi over the phone and her health also went well. I also asked them to unite all parties with similar ideology to make a strong choice and convene a meeting with them.'

Recently, a well-known leader used abusive words for Bhaktacharandas, who was in charge of the Congress, for political blunders. Lalu Prasad's statement has evoked sharp reactions from parties other than Congress. Several leaders, including Meira Kumar, have made statements following Lalu Prasad's statement towards the Dalit community leader. Earlier, Lalu had asked Congress to form an alliance with the Congress to get the bail forfeited. Sonia's phone is seen as an attempt to treat Lalu.
