New Delhi: Star boxer Amit Panghal of India won the silver medal after performing brilliantly in the World Championship. By doing so, he created history as he is the first Indian to receive this medal. On this occasion, Panghal said that he does not need personal honor. He wants the honor for his former coach Anil Dhankad. Amit Panghal has also won gold medals in the Asian Games and the Asian Championship. His name was ignored for the Arjuna Award because in 2012 he was duped by the drugs taken for the treatment of chicken pox. He was also banned for a year for failing a doping test.

The Indian star boxer said, "I don't care for the awards but I would be happy if my former coach Anil Dhankad is considered for the Dronacharya Award." He trained me in the early years and if he had not been there, I would not have been such a boxer today. 'Panghal said,' I started boxing in 2008 and Dhankad sir has remained important to me ever since. Even now when I need guidance in any matter, I go to Dhankad sir. To get them award means I have to get award. I'd rather be happy. Dhankar was once a national level medalist in boxing.
