Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing a rally in Jharkhand's Palamu on Saturday, criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of disrespecting the Constitution by allegedly displaying a "fake" copy. Shah claimed that the Congress party has misrepresented the Constitution and insisted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would prevent Congress from implementing any minority-based reservation policies.
During his speech, Shah said, “Rahul Gandhi shows a copy of the Constitution, but he was exposed recently. Someone acquired the copy he displayed, and it only had 'The Constitution of India' printed on the cover without any content inside. By waving this empty document, Rahul Gandhi insulted B.R. Ambedkar and the Constituent Assembly." He further accused the Congress party of undermining the Constitution.
Shah noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has designated November 26 as Constitution Day to honor the document and its creators.
Shah also accused Congress of attempting to shift reservations meant for OBCs, tribals, and Dalits to minorities. He claimed that Congress had promised a 10% reservation for minorities following a meeting with a delegation of religious leaders in Maharashtra. "The BJP, under Modi's leadership, will never allow religion-based reservations," Shah emphasized.
In his address, Shah also criticized Congress for its alleged plans to reinstate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. "Kashmir is an integral part of India, and I warn Rahul Gandhi that even your future generations won’t be able to bring back Article 370," he declared.
Shah took aim at the Jharkhand government, labeling the JMM-led administration as "the most corrupt government in the country." He accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren of corruption, stating, “The Chief Minister claims that infiltration is merely a political agenda of the BJP, but in reality, it is his government’s income source...corrupt leaders will face consequences.”
The Jharkhand assembly elections for the 81 seats will be held on November 13 and 20, with the vote count scheduled for November 23.
