Bangalore: Before the assembly elections to be held in Karnataka, there is a confrontation between Home Minister Amit Shah and former CM HD Kumaraswamy. In fact, on December 30, 2022, while launching the BJP's campaign for the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections from Mandya, Mysore, Home Minister Amit Shah took a fierce class of the main opposition Congress and JD(S) through words. He termed both parties as communal, casteist, and corrupt.

The Home Minister had also said during this time that there would be a direct fight between the BJP and the Congress in the Karnataka elections to be held in April-May. Stung by Shah's attack, JD(S) leader and former CM HD Kumaraswamy hit back, calling the home minister a 'political chameleon' and 'reincarnation of Joseph Goebbels'. On the other hand, before the Karnataka elections, Congress accused the JD(S) of being the B team of the BJP. However, it is also worth noting that in the last election, Congress had formed the government in alliance with JD(S) and today the same Congress is calling them the B team of BJP.

Targeting both the Congress and the JD(S), Amit Shah launched the BJP's campaign in the Old Mysore region, where the party's performance in state assembly elections has always been below average. The region has mainly been dominated by the JD(S) led by former PM HD Deve Gowda and the Congress.
