GUWAHATI: Union home minister Amit Shah met with the chief ministers of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh at his office in New Delhi on Tuesday to press for a lasting solution to the two states' thorny inter-state boundary conflicts.

"Next year, our country will celebrate its 75th anniversary of independence, which is a significant milestone for us. Inter-state boundary issues in the north-east continue to be a blemish on our otherwise magnificent journey "Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, stated.

He went on to say that the home minister had requested him and his Arunachal Pardesh colleague, Pema Khandu, to work out a lasting solution to the two states' border conflicts.
