Home Minister Amit Shah hinted on Sunday that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, will be passed during Parliament's winter session while addressing a rally in Badshahpur, Gurgaon. He said, "Waqf board law... we will fix it in the next session of Parliament."

The bill has faced opposition, with critics arguing that it is based on unfounded concerns regarding current waqf boards and infringes on the religious rights of minorities. The government, however, insists that the bill aims to enhance transparency in waqf authorities' operations and limit their arbitrary powers.

A Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) led by BJP's Jagdambika Pal is currently reviewing the bill. The discussions within the committee have been contentious, with conflicts arising between opposition and BJP members. The JPC has received 1.25 crore emails related to the bill, leading BJP MP Nishikant Dubey to call for a home ministry investigation into potential efforts to obstruct the legislation.

During his three rallies in Haryana on Sunday, Shah promised to create 5 lakh government jobs with pensions for youth over the next five years if the BJP remains in power. He also reaffirmed his commitment to providing jobs with pensions for Agniveers after their four-year military service.

Emphasizing the BJP's focus on merit in job appointments, Shah remarked, "We will provide jobs to 5 lakh youths without any parchi and kharchi. Congress candidates are talking about the quota system in jobs. They don't believe in merit; we do."

Job creation is a significant issue in the lead-up to the assembly elections, with many candidates making employment promises. The Congress party has pledged 2 lakh jobs in its manifesto if elected.

Shah also took aim at Rahul Gandhi, labeling him a "lie machine" and accusing Congress of spreading misinformation about the Agnipath scheme, stating, "The scheme was brought to keep the Army young." He described Congress as a party of "dalal, dealer and damaad," alleging that it has benefited specific communities and districts during its rule.
