New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to visit West Bengal for two days starting April 16, according to BJP sources. This will be his first visit to the state since the Assembly elections last year.

During his tour to the state, Shah is expected to hold a series of meetings with party workers.The Home Minister is expected to visit the state on April 16 and 17, a party source said. On April 16, he is expected to participate in the programme "Three Bigha Corridor" in Cooch Behar.

According to sources, the Union Home Minister will also pay a visit to the BSF camp on the India-Bangladesh border.

Party source said,  Shah is expected to visit Kolkata on April 17 for a meeting with BJP MLAs and top state leaders. During the meeting, Shah is expected to inquire about the party's internal review of the Assembly election results by the state committee.

Notably, the BJP-appointed five-member panel investigating the Birbhum violence, which resulted in the deaths of nine persons, has submitted its report to the Union Home Minister. In light of the recent incidents in Birbhum, Shah's visit is likely to include a discussion of the state's law and order situation.
