Amit Shah, who is on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, announced reservation for Gujjar, Bakarwal and Pahari communities soon at a rally in Rajouri on Tuesday. It is believed that with this bet, Amit Shah has tried to prepare the ground for forming a BJP government with an absolute majority in the first assembly elections to be held after removing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and making it a Union Territory.

Amit Shah said that Justice Sharma's commission in its report sent to the government has recommended reservations for Gujjar, Bakarwal and Pahari communities. The Modi government will implement these recommendations soon.

Rajouri, Handwara, Poonch and Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir have a large population of Pahari people. The people of this community have influence in 10 assembly seats in 5 districts of the state. With this bet, the BJP can come in a very strong position in all these 10 seats. In this context, the promise of Amit Shah is considered very important politically. This could hurt the old parties in the Union Territory and can be a big gain to the BJP.
