Pune: Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Pune for a two-day visit and shared the stage with Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar for the first time since the latter joined the BJP-Sena coalition government in the state. Shah took a light-hearted dig at Ajit Pawar, acknowledging his delayed entry into the right political platform.

Addressing the audience at the launch of the digital portal of the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies office (CRCS), Shah commended Ajit Pawar's role in development work and stated that he is now sitting in the right place after a long wait.

In July, Ajit Pawar led a vertical split in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to become the Deputy Chief Minister, causing a political upheaval within the party. This marked his fourth stint in the same position in Maharashtra.

Amit Shah's visit to Pune comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the city, where he was honored with a prestigious award by the Lokmanya Tilak Trust.

During the CRCS digital portal launch event, Shah emphasized the significance of digitization in streamlining cooperative societies' functioning. He highlighted that the online digital app will benefit more than 1500 cooperative societies across the country.

Taking the opportunity to laud Prime Minister Modi's achievements, Shah mentioned the transformation brought about in the last nine years, fulfilling the dreams of citizens, especially in terms of electricity, healthcare, and food for the poor.

Regarding Maharashtra's cooperative societies, Shah stressed the need to maximize their potential, and he envisioned every tehsil having a cooperative food storage facility. He also announced that sugar mills in the state would not be levied with taxes in the coming years, thanks to PM Narendra Modi's initiatives.
