New Delhi: As soon as Union Home Minister and BJP President Amit Shah joined the government, speculation started about the new BJP President. The Union Home Minister announced that by the end of this year, when the party's organizational elections are over, the BJP will get a new president. He said the new chairman is likely to take charge in December. Amit Shah rejected the notion that he would remain a 'superpower' and would keep the party running from behind the scenes. The BJP president said similar claims were also made when he took over as BJP chief in 2014.

When the new chairman starts running the organization, such speculation will come to an end. Shah said, "This (BJP) is not a Congress party and no one can run it from behind the scenes." He said that the party would be run according to its constitution. It is believed that the party's working president JP Nadda will replace Amit Shah. The principle of 'one person one post' is generally followed in the BJP, hence the possibility was that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inducted Amit Shah into the government as a cabinet minister, he would be the new leader.
