NEW DELHI: Home minister Amit Shah is set to meet the BJP's office-bearers in Jaipur  today (July 9)  to review the party's preparations for the assembly election, source said.

He is scheduled to visit the city to hold the meeting of the North Zonal Council states

Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, the National Capital Territory of Delhi, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh are all represented in the council.

Shah's visit becomes more significant in light of the recent event in Udaipur, where two Muslim men are accused of killing a tailor, Kanhaiya Lal Teli, in revenge for backing the now-suspended BJP spokeswoman Nupur Sharma's remarks about Prophet Mohammed.

In addition to supporting bandh demands and protests against the state Congress government, BJP leaders have visited Teli's home.

At the party office in Jaipur on Saturday, all senior state officials would be present for the meeting with Shah. Along with former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, state BJP president Satish Poonia, and leader of the opposition Gulab Chand Kataria, BJP general secretary for Rajasthan Arun Singh will also be present.

For all BJP MPs, MLAs, and leaders, a three-day training camp is being organised by the state BJP beginning on July 10 on Mount Abu. Droupadi Murmu, the NDA's presidential candidate, is visiting Rajasthan on July 12. The BJP state unit intends to greet Murmu cordially when she arrives.
