Lucknow: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold an election meeting in Varanasi in the state on November 12 in view of preparations for Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2022. The meeting is being attended by 700 Bharatiya Janata Party leaders. UP CM Yogi Adityanath, both deputy CM along with state-unit president Swatantra Dev Singh and state in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan will also be present in Varanasi to attend the meeting.

This visit of the Home Minister will be for two days. He will go directly to the Handicrafts Complex from Babatpur airport at around 4 pm on Friday. Earlier, the BJP's election management team will meet at the Handicraft complex from 12 noon. The meeting will be attended by 98 District Collectors and District In-charge, all 403 assembly seats. With this, six regional presidents of Uttar Pradesh, all senior functionaries of the state BJP as well as in-charge and co-in-charge have been called to Varanasi for a meeting with Shah.

UP assembly elections are proposed early next year. Meanwhile, the BJP is operating a membership drive. Amit Shah will then brainstorm on the BJP's position in the state through the master class. A party source said that "the direction of the election campaign will be determined at this meeting.'' Amit Shah will also give his views on the pace of preparations.
