New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir on a 3-day visit. He will reach Srinagar on Saturday for this. The Home Minister will chair security review meetings. He will also address panchayat members as well as party workers. Amit Shah is on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir at a time when civilians have been targeted by terrorists in the Valley recently and 11 people have been killed.

This will be Amit Shah's first visit to Jammu and Kashmir since the repeal of Section 370 of the Constitution from the Valley in August 2019. According to media reports, there is pressure to normalize the atmosphere in the valley ahead of Amit Shah's visit. Instructions have been issued to crush terrorists at the earliest to relieve the situation of tension after target killing and also to take major action against the elements who carried them out.

In Jammu and Kashmir, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sunil Sharma said he has been told that the Home Minister will reach Srinagar and then go to Jammu. Sharma further said, 'He will visit Kashmir again before leaving for New Delhi.' He has said that he has invited his district collectors for an event by Home Minister Amit Shah. After attending a BJP meeting on Shah's visit, he said, 'The Home Minister will also attend a rally in Jammu.'
