The third Test match between India and England is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Home Minister Amit Shah, who accompanied President Ramnath Kovind to the inauguration of the match, expressed his wish that Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara win the match by scoring a double century. Before the match, Amit Shah said, "I pray that Pujara hits a double century here and help India win against England".

He said, "Together with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave at Motera and Narendra Modi Stadium, a sports complex will also be built at Naranpura. All three will be equipped to host any international sports event. Ahmedabad will be located in India. It will be known as 'Sports City'. " Many Indian players have achieved great success on this ground. Due to his speech, Shah also discussed about these successes.

He said, "I feel very proud to say that Javagal Srinath is also present among us, who has a lot of memories associated with this stadium. Srinath took six wickets while playing against South Africa in this stadium and made India won". On this ground, Kapil Dev broke Richard Headley's world record of taking 431 wickets. At the same stadium, Sunil Gavaskar completed his 10,000 runs while playing against Pakistan.
