Amit Shah will preside over a meeting in UP to pick a new CM

New Delhi: Union home minister Amit Shah, one of the major strategists in Uttar Pradesh's recently ended Assembly elections, has been named as the BJP's central observer for the state legislature party meeting, which is expected to take place soon. Rajnath Singh, the defence minister, was also named as the observer for Uttarakhand by the party.

Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, and Kiren Rijiju, the Union Law and Justice Minister, have been named the party's central observers for Manipur. The BJP has named Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar and minister of state for fisheries and animal husbandry L. Murugan as central observers for the election of the legislative party leader in Goa.

Raghubar Das, the former chief minister of Jharkhand, has been nominated as a co-observer in Uttar Pradesh, while Meenakshi Lekhi, the minister of state for external affairs, has been appointed as the co-observer for Uttarakhand.

"The Bharatiya Janata Party's parliamentary board has nominated central observers and co-observers for the election of the leader of the legislative parties in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, and Goa Assembly," BJP national general secretary Arun Singh said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Sadanand Shet Tanavade, the head of the Goa BJP, announced on Monday that the new administration in Goa will be sworn in after Holi, which falls on March 18.
