The family of actor-comedian Raju Srivastava released the first news regarding his passing. Raju passed away last week following a heart attack while being treated at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. His family posted an old photo of Raju with Amitabh Bachchan, who sent the comedian a special voice message that was played for him while he was unconscious.

On behalf of the family, Antara, Raju's daughter, wrote: "Extremely grateful to Shri @amitabhbachchan uncle for being there for us every single day during this difficult time. We will always be grateful for the strength and help that your prayers gave us. You are the hero, love, and guru of my father.

"Dad has always carried you inside of him ever since the first time he saw you on the big screen," she continued. He followed you both on and off the screen. His contacts list had your phone number saved as "Guru ji." You were living inside of him.

Amitabh reportedly said to Raju in a voice message: "Raju, enough already. Raju, get up and continue to make us all laugh." Antara continued, "His response after hearing your audio clip clearly shows what you meant to him. We will always be grateful to you on behalf of my mother Shikha, brother @aayushmaan.srivastava, my entire family, and me, @antarasrivastava. You alone are to blame for the adoration and love he enjoys on a global scale.

Raju once opened his eyes upon hearing Amitabh's voice, as Amitabh had previously described Raju's response to his voice note. "They were told to send a voice to wake him up. I did, and they played it in his ears while he was in that condition. He once did briefly open one eye before vanishing. We will always remember his sense of timing and the slang humor of his birth. It was original, frank, open, and humorous. He is currently grinning from the heavens and will soon be the source of the gods' laughter, he had said.
