New Delhi: The quality of Yamuna water has improved in the capital city of the country. This information has been given to the apex court during the hearing of the case relating to keeping the river water clean. Last week, the Delhi Jal Board had complained that ammonia levels in water would reach alarming levels. The court was today told that the ammonia level has now become much better than the acceptable level.

Last week, the Delhi Jal Board had said that the level of ammonia in the Yamuna had reached 12 PPM on December 25 due to negligence of neighbouring sub-Haryana. Due to this, water cleaning plants were not able to operate properly before supplying to Delhi households. The use of this type of water can make people have cancer. The court had taken the issue seriously and sent a notice to Haryana. The senior advocate Meenakshi Arora was appointed amicus curie i.e. Justice Mitra to help her in the case. The court had also said that it would also have a detailed hearing on the issue of pollution in the rest of the rivers.

The Haryana lawyer sought permission to file a written reply in the case which was accepted by the court. Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, who is from the Centre, also told the court that Delhi has been a habitual offender in the Yamuna pollution case. The water of all the drains is being released into the Yamuna without cleaning. The Delhi Jal Board wants to bust a shard of dirt on other states.
