AMU exams postpone, now to start from May 12

According to the vice-chancellor professor Tariq Mansoor, the annual examinations of the Aligarh Muslim University will now start from May 12. Earlier the exams were scheduled to start from May 7 but got postponed due to an ongoing student protest on the campus.

Prof Mansor, from the University, said that the decision taken by the university in view of the improvement in the law-and-order situation in the campus. He further said that the University had initiated a number of steps for the return of normalcy. This was the primarily centered on the addressing of all genuine demands of students pertaining to the violence on the campus on May 2.

He also said that 16-member coordination committee of senior faculty members had been formed to help in engaging protesting students. The committee will also have Prof Jamshed Siddiqui, Dean Students Welfare and will include the President of the AMU Teachers Association.

Prof Mansoor said that the University had “no intention of further delaying the examination schedule” as any such move will jeopardize the career prospects of a large number of students.
