Ramanand Sagar, the well-known name of TV world, was born on 29 December 1927 in a wealthy family near Asal Guru near Lahore. He could not find the love of his parents, as his grandmother adopted him. His name was Chandramouli earlier, but his grandmother changed his name to Ramanand. At the age of 16, his prose poem was selected to be published in the magazine Pratap College in Srinagar. The young Ramanand protested against taking dowry, for which he was thrown out of the house.
With this, their life struggle started. He worked as a truck cleaner and peon to continue his studies. He worked in the day and studied at night. Being meritorious, he received a gold medal from the University of Punjab (Pakistan) and was awarded the title of Munshi Fazal for his proficiency in the Persian language. After this he started doing journalism and soon he reached the position of news editor in a newspaper. Along with this, his writing work also continued.
He came to India in 1947 at the time of partition of the country. At that time he had only five arrivals as assets. In India, he joined the film sector and formed his own production company Sagar Arts in 1950, whose first film was 'Atithi'. In 1985, he entered the world of small screens. The most popular serial Ramayan produced by him made his image as a perfect human in the hearts of people, this serial took him to the peak of popularity.
