Adelaide, Australia: The body of a 23-year-old woman was found in the sea off Australia on Wednesday after falling overboard from a cruise ship.

Around midnight, the crew of the Pacific Explorer reported a missing passenger while the ship was about 70 kilometers (43 mi) off Cape Jaffa in the state of South Australia.

A rescue plane was launched overnight by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, and at dawn, two helicopters joined it. Just before 7 a.m., according to searchers, the body of an unidentified female was discovered in the water.

"We continue to care for and support the family member traveling with this guest and extend our deepest sympathies to their loved ones," the company said in a statement.
