Kabul: It has been more than a month and a half since the Taliban starting ruling Afghanistan, and now it has started showing its shades. Taliban leader Anas Haqqani, Mahmud Ghaznavi had arrived at the tomb on Tuesday. On reaching here, he also mentioned the demolition of the Somnath temple, glorifying Ghaznavi.

Akranta Mahmood Ghaznavi demolished the Somnath temple in Gujarat. He had attacked India 17 times. Taliban leader Anas Haqqani had arrived at his dargah. On reaching here, Haqqani proudly mentioned the demolition of the Somnath temple. Haqqani tweeted, 'Today we visited the dargah of 10th-century Muslim warrior and Mujahid Mahmood Ghaznavi. Ghaznavi had established a strong Muslim rule and broke the statue of Somnath.'

 

In 1026, Mahmud Ghaznavi attacked the Somnath temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. Ghaznavi is said to have come with about 5,000 companions to attack the temple after seeing the temple mentioned in the travelogue of Arab traveller al-Baruni. He had also looted the temple property. The Somnath temple was attacked and demolished several times before and after, but it was also rebuilt every time by Hindu kings. The temple was last rebuilt at the behest of the country's first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. At present, PM Narendra Modi is the Chairman of Shri Somnath Temple Trust.
