Vijayawada: Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has asked for a comprehensive plan to connect ponds with canals and feeder channels to alleviate the state's water scarcity in the next five years.

On Monday, the CM met with deputy chief minister for panchayat raj Mutyala Naidu and senior officials in his camp office to discuss the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, rural roads, and drinking water.

To alleviate the water deficit, Jagan Mohan Reddy emphasised the interconnection of ponds with canals, particularly in the Kadapa and Anantapur districts. He instructed officials to speed up the construction of RBKs, digital libraries, village secretariats, and village clinics, and to post the 'Navaratnalu programme' photograph on every building.

He stated that building construction should not be slowed or halted. He emphasised the importance of uploading bills related to job schemes and their payment, and he requested that the authorities designate a special officer in Delhi to oversee the process of getting the bills cleared by the Centre. He stated that the construction of four types of structures should be finished as soon as possible.

With regard to YSR Jala Kala, the Chief Minister demanded that a rig be set up in each of the state's 175 assembly segments, and provide a borewell, a motor, and pipelines for each farmer.
