According to the current trends, TDP is set to lose the Assembly Elections in Andhra Pradesh to YSR Congress, which is leading on 149 seats. Naidu’s party is leading on 25 seats and Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party is leading on 1 seat. Andhra Pradesh witnessed polling for both Lok Sabha and Assembly on the same day on 11 April. This was the first time that assembly elections were held in the state since bifurcation, which created Telangana.

According to the reports, the current CM of Andhra Pradesh could tender his resignation as soon as this evening. Reports say that he will address the media in the afternoon before traveling to Hyderabad to tender his resignation to Governor of Telangana and at Raj Bhavan in the evening. It may be recalled that Naidu has quit the ruling NDA last year over the demand for special status to Andhra Pradesh.
