Visakhapatnam: The Sileru police in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday evening recovered 161 kg of ganja and detained five criminals. According to Sileru police officer Ranjit, the police had received a secret Tahrir from an unidentified person. On the basis of Tahrir, police along with CRPF soldiers reached Dharkonda village of GK Veedhi Mandal. They found 5 people waiting with five bags at the local bus stop and received 161 kg of 'Ganja' while checking the bag.

The culprits have been identified as Kapil, Akash Verma, Shankar Jadav and Raj Kumar of Delhi, and Abhishek of UP. Police said, they purchased cannabis from a remote tribal settlement near Dharkonda village and were waiting for a bus to Bhadrachalam in Telangana from where they were strategizing for further travel to Delhi. Police have also seized 25,000 rupees in cash and five mobile phones from the culprits. A case has been registered and an inquiry is underway.

Yesterday, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence or the Pune Unit of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has achieved a major success. On the Pune-Solapur highway, the DRI team has seized 1878 kg Ganja worth Rs 3.75 crore. The drugs smuggler had used a different method to supply these drugs. The drug-laden truck from Andhra Pradesh was full of pineapple snares and jackfruit to mislead the agencies. The DRI had received a letter that the drug was being smuggling in this one truck from Andhra Pradesh after which the DRI team intercepted the truck on the Pune-Solapur highway.
