The month of Ashadha is a holy month according to the Telugu tradition. According to the Telugu custom, the newlywed daughter receives gifts from her family while staying at her in-laws' house, the parents send gifts and saris to their daughter along with sweets and other items. A 'gift' given by a father to a newlywed daughter in Andhra Pradesh has become the talk of the town.

A prominent businessman of Rajahmundry sent 1000 kg fish, 1000 kg vegetables, 250 kg shrimp, 250 kg grocery, 250 jar pickles, 250 kg sweets, 50 chicken, 10 goats to his daughter's house. The daughter is married in Yanam, Puducherry. The father has sent this big gift to his daughter in the name of 'Sari'. Significantly, Pawan Kumar, son of a prominent businessman of Yanam, was recently married to Pratyusha, daughter of Balarama Krishna, Batula of Rajahmundry. 

At the same time, when this couple was celebrating their first festival in the month of Ashadha, the father decided to make it grand. When the truckload gift reached Pratyusha's in-laws, they were also stunned by the grandeur. It has become a topic of discussion all over the city. Balaram Krishna sent 1000 kg fish, 1000 kg vegetables, 250 kg shrimp, 250 kg grocery, 250 jars of pickles, 250 kg sweets, 50 chicken, 10 goats to his daughter's house. There is a celebratory situation in the girl's in-laws' house and the preparations for the feast are going on. Normally every Telugu family sends a gift to the daughter's in-laws' house in the month of Ashadha, according to their status, but this gift is being discussed a lot.
