The Andhra Pradesh government is on high alert due to reports of Nipah virus (NiV) and increasing coronavirus infections in Kerala. In response to the surge in NiV and Coronavirus infections in Kerala, the Andhra Pradesh government has issued a high-level warning to all districts.

All districts have received circulars from the state government instructing administrative authorities to prepare all medical facilities and take preventative measures under their jurisdiction. No cases of the Nipah virus have been recorded in Andhra Pradesh, according to state health officials.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy instructed the state's health department to focus on reducing new Covid-19 infections and preparing for the Nipah virus on Wednesday. The Nipah virus killed a 12-year-old child in Kerala's North Kozhikode. To prevent the Nipah virus from spreading throughout Kerala, the authorities monitored everyone who came into contact with the minor and placed them in isolation.

Nipah virus is a zoonotic virus that causes severe respiratory infections, encephalitis, and brain fever in humans. The virus was initially discovered in 1998-99 in the Malaysian village of Nipah. Fruit bats, sometimes known as flying foxes, were responsible for spreading the virus to people.

People infected with the NiV virus are more likely to die from encephalitis, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). According to health experts, the Nipah virus is more deadly than Corona, with a mortality rate of 40 to 70% if infected. The Nipah virus, according to scientists, exhibits symptoms that are similar to Coronavirus.
