Visakhapatnam: Six Maoists have been killed in an encounter between Maoists and security forces in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday morning. According to reports, an encounter broke out between greyhound security forces and Maoists in the The Galametta forests in The Ggalametta forests in Thempa police station area of Koyuru Mandal area (Koyyuru mandal, Visakhapatnam) in Visakhapatnam district this morning in which six Maoists were killed.

Chintapally ASP Vidyasagar Naidu informed that there was no casualty on the part of security forces in an encounter. Sources said police came to know about the activities of Maoists in Puttapaka area and noticed that some Maoist members were taking essential items from nearby villages.

According to sources, maoists opened fire on anti-naxal forces, greyhounds and special teams who were conducting search operations in the area. He said that 'In retaliation, we fired and according to initial reports, 6 Maoists were killed. According to police, 6 bodies of Maoists, including women, have been recovered. At the same time, police have also recovered a AK-47, a SLR, a carbine, three 303 rifles from the spot'
