Two priests in Andhra Pradesh booked for violating Covid protocols

Visakhapatnam: In Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam district, two priests were conducting religious programmes by collecting 400-500 people in violation of corona protocol, police conducted a surprise raid and registered a case against the priests and asked them to pay the fine. State in view of the increasing number of cases of corona infection has imposed lockdown. Amid the lockdown with permission from tehsildar (MRO) a fully scheduled programme was conducted but the rules suggested only 20 people.

According to Sub Inspector Hamavati of Sitammapet police station, a public curfew was also imposed in Sitammapet mandal area on Sunday to restrict everyone to their homes. Even then, on Sunday, two priests organized a religious programme in village, where 400-500 people were called violating the Corona Protocol, people were sitting flouting social distancing.

Inspector Hamavati said that as per the order of Ramesh, the tehsildar of Sitammapet, was stunned when he reached there, two priests had put so many lives at risk together, anyone who has a corona infection can easily spread to others. He was reprimanded and the two priests were taken to the tehsildar, who imposed a fine of 50,000-50,000 rupees, and ordered a case against the two.
