A non-bailable case has been filed against Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Jaydev Galla, who joined the protest against the proposal of three Andhra Pradesh capitals. He was presented to Galla before the Mangalagiri Magistrate after midnight. He will remain in custody till 31 January. He was detained during a protest rally organized by farmers against cabinet approval on the establishment of three capitals.

According to the media report, the bill passed by the state's YS Jaganmohan Reddy government to implement the three capitals scheme earlier passed the assembly late on Monday night. The bill will be placed in the Legislative Council on Tuesday. However, due to the number of YSR Congress members in the Upper House of 58 members being just nine, the government will hardly get success.

The bill proposes to make the working capital of the state Visakhapatnam, the legislative capital Amravati and the judicial capital Kurnool in the bill. Jan Sena MLA R. Varaprasad has supported this bill apart from the party's stand. Meanwhile, 17 MLAs of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) have been suspended for obstructing the Chief Minister Reddy's address.
