Tirupati: The famous Tirupati temple in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh was reopened after 80 days on Thursday. People visiting the temple appeared in masks and were seen wearing PPE kits. Guidelines have been issued for the devotees who visit the temple. The use of social distancing and masks has been made compulsory for devotees.
No one was allowed to go in the premises of the temple, open for 80 days, and at regular intervals, loudspeakers playing devotional songs were reminded to keep a bottle of sanitizer with them, wear masks and maintain social distance. According to the guidelines of the Center, the doors of the temple were opened from June 8, but only Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) employees were allowed to visit for the trial. While the temple gates opened on 10 June for the locals residing in Tirupati. The doors opened to the devotees from June 11 after a three-day trial.
During this time, all the devotees in the temple have been instructed to maintain a distance of six feet. Marks have been made on the floor. In an hour, more than 300 people will be allowed to visit. Entry is allowed from 6:30 am to 7 pm. If devotees had to wait for darshan, only 100 people would be kept in the waiting hall. Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh was closed before the nationwide lockdown imposed on March 24 to stop the spread of coronavirus.
