Port Blair: The number of infected people in the Union Territory has increased to 7,469 after two new cases of coronavirus were registered in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. A health department official said on Friday that a person was found infected in order to identify people who came in contact with the infected and one person was found infected at the airport.
In Andaman and Nicobar, it is mandatory for all passengers arriving by plane to undergo corona tests, in which they are allowed to leave the city only after they are confirmed not infected. He explained that 33 more people are undergoing treatment for coronavirus infection. All of them are undergoing treatment in South Andamans. There is no active case of infection in the Nicobar and North and Central Andaman districts. So far 7,308 people have recovered from infection in the Union Territory and 128 people have died of infection. Covid-19 testing of 4,10,741 samples has been conducted in the Union Territory.
So far, 1,79,963 people in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 vaccine, of which 1,56,289 have been given the first dose and 23,674 have been given the second dose. The total population of the Union Territory is about four lakh.
