Port Blair: The number of infected people in the Union Territory has increased to 7,440 after two new cases of corona infection were reported in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. A health department official said on Friday that no new cases of infection deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, with the death toll at 127.
In Andaman and Nicobar, 99 people are currently undergoing treatment for coronavirus infection, including 96 in the South Andaman district and three from the north and central Andaman districts. There is no active case of infection in the Nicobar district. He said that the number of people who have been freed from infection has now gone up to 7214 after four more people recovered in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. All passengers arriving by plane in the Union Territory are required to carry out covid-19 checks, in which they are allowed to leave only after confirmation of non-infected.
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands administration has so far conducted corona tests of 4,05,197 samples. The rate of infected samples is 1.84 percent. So far, 1,49,906 people in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been vaccinated against covid-19, out of which 17,778 have been given second doses. Meanwhile, Information, Publicity, and Tourism Secretary SK Singh once again urged people to strictly follow the covid-19 guidelines on Thursday evening.
