As for the tournament, Russell holds 4 wickets and 82 runs to his name. He played an integral role in the match against Lahore Qalandars where he scored a last-ball six in a one-over eliminator. Andre Russell represented United in 14 matches, where he scored 110 runs at a strike-rate of 119 with the highest of 35. With the bowl in hand, the Jamaica-born pacer claimed 20 wickets at an average of 18.25 and economy rate of 8.23.

An Islamabad United official gave an update on Russell’s injury: “Russell was injured during the game against Karachi Kings and MRI results were not encouraging. He will not take any further part in the tournament.” Islamabad United Physio Errol Alcott has suggested four-eight week time frame for return of the fast bowler hence in light of the recommendations it is obvious that Russell will miss the rest of the tournament.

West Indies all-rounder Russell’s injury is also likely to affect Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)‘s team set-up as well. Russell could miss out playing initial games of IPL 2018. Islamabad United have received a huge blow as Andre Russell has been ruled out remainder of PSL 2018. Russell pulled his right hamstring during the match against Karachi Kings on Sunday while fielding at the long-off. Russell had returned to cricket after serving one-year ban. The news comes as a major blow for the first editions’ champions United, who are already sweating over the fitness of pacer Rumman Raees, who also injured himself while fielding in the match against Quetta Gladiators on February 28.
