Actress and musician Andrea Jeremiah is known for her fascination for books, as she often opens up to her followers about her favourite titles. On Monday, the actress opened up about the books that defined her childhood, and also spoke about the power of storytelling.

"When I was a kid, I always had my nose buried in a book. my parents hardly ever took us to the movies, so reading was my way of discovering the world beyond. Featured in this post is a small collection of some of my favourite books... but there are so many more ! #enidblyton & #marktwain defined my childhood, #thefountainhead was my coming of age book, #thegodofsmallthings was the book I read the weekend I was supposed to be studying for my board exams, #margaretatwood was my reading material all through college while pretending to listen to my Lecturers, #murakami transported me to a parallel universe, #paulocoelho made me believe in magic, #harperlee made me cry & #pgwodehouse made me laugh," she said in the post.

The actress also added that she was now reading the translated works by Tamil authors, starting with Ponniyin Selvan. "If there’s one thing I could tell every parent out there, it’s this- replace the I-pad with storybooks ! Truly, there is no better way to cultivate a child’s imagination. Its never too late to pick up a book and start reading.. the world would be a better place if we buried our noses in books instead of poking them into other people’s lives," she signed off.

The actress will next be seen in Mysskin's 'Pisasu 2', among other films.
