In court documents, Angelina Jolie accuses her ex-husband Brad Pitt of assaulting her and their children while intoxicated in 2016, which prompted her to file for divorce. After Pitt sued her in February for selling her share in their French winery, claiming that under the terms of their agreement, neither party would sell without the other's approval, she filed a countersuit.
According to CNN, Jolie has reportedly claimed in her countersuit that the two never came to such an agreement. The actress has also stated that she sold her share of the winery to achieve "financial independence" from Pitt and "peace and closure" after what she claims was a particularly stressful and terrible period in the lives of her and their children.

Brad Pitt is accused of physically abusing Angelina Jolie:
According to court records obtained by CNN, Jolie has provided information regarding an alleged incident that allegedly took place on a private plane on September 14, 2016, five days before she officially filed for divorce, during which she claims the actor assaulted her and her children. Angelina claims that Pitt and one of their six kids, who were between the ages of 8 and 15, got into a fight.
Jolie has accused the actor of verbally abusing her and claims that he "grabbed" her by the head and shook her before grabbing her shoulders and pushing her against the private plane's lavatory wall.
Pitt allegedly "choked" one of the kids and punched another one in the face, according to the lawsuit. According to the document, "several were crying" and "all of their children were terrified."

Pitt's reaction to the alleged mistreatment:
As a result of Angelina Jolie's countersuit allegations, a representative for Brad Pitt told CNN that the allegations made by the actor's ex-wife were "absolutely incorrect." The spokesperson added that fresh, unsupported claims are constantly being made against Jolie. Brad has accepted responsibility for what he did, but not for things he didn't do, according to the statement.
No criminal charges were brought against Pitt, according to court records that were previously made public in August 2017 pertaining to the 2016 plane incident involving Angelina and Brad.
